Think you bought a home in a residential zone? Sorry pal.
Pandora's Box :60 is running on WXTK News Radio 95.
Funny how many people step up when you mess with their neighborhoods, homes, and families.

Then, Town staff recommended "Commercial Lodging Everywhere"
Read the comments Barnstable residents sent about their experiences and concerns with transient lodging in our neighborhoods. The Town Council votes soon. Write council@town.barnstable.ma.us
It's the policy Cape Cod & Islands Association of Realtors (CCIAOR) have been lobbying for: residential zoning won't protect you from Airbnb and Realtor hotels next door. You'll just get a complaint line to call. Download and read these two docs. The first is about "nuisance" regs, the only help you'll have. The second? How the paid pollsters plan to convince you it's great.
It's an "open access" survey that let's anyone, anywhere do it, any number of times. No serious researcher looking for public opinion uses "open access." The survey has also been marketed primarily to Realtors and short-term rental business interests, with powerful email lists. Barnstable residents' views are going to be swamped.

DownloadIt's riveting, maddening, sometimes a bit funny. For six months, Barnstable local government ignored repeated requests to enforce its zoning bylaws. This BarnstableWatch member paid a $600 filing fee and an attorney to get what every citizen has a right to, free: a decision from your government, one way or the other. You will not believe how this hearing ends.
FAIR USE: This video is from the Town of Barnstable, paid for by taxpayers, available on the Town's taxpayer-funded website and open government Channel 18. Barnstable makes no income from this, nor do we. We post this hearing excerpt for educational purposes only.
Barnstable received these requests for zoning enforcement in a residential district. State law requires the Town to either enforce or explain why it won't in 14 days. Six months later, residents are still waiting. This is not unusual, others who've made similar requests are sent home empty handed.
